Looking to add a personal touch to your dining table? Why not try making your own tablecloth! With a few basic sewing skills, you can create a unique and stylish tablecloth that reflects your personal taste and style.  

Course Outline
Looking to add a personal touch to your dining table? Why not try making your own tablecloth! With a few basic sewing skills, you can create a unique and stylish tablecloth that reflects your personal taste and style.

Aims of the course
- Help bring out that creative spark and be able decorate your home with minimal effort. - Build your confidence in handling the sewing machine. - Learn new techniques and be able to apply them to other sewing projects

What you will learn on this course
- Create a table cloth - Make patterns from measurements - How to bag out items - This course is broken down into three sessions lasting two hours and will also cover health and safety procedures whilst using a sewing machine.

Suitability and entry requirements
- a reasonable level of spoken English to follow the class - a domestic sewing machine - a camera device whether it be a laptop, tablet or Smartphone which will allow you to use ZOOM/Google Meets to participate in the online sessions. If in doubt, discuss your needs with Learn Ealing.

Platform for the course
This workshop will be held on Google Meets. You can join by clicking on the link within the joining instructions. Once you have joined, please turn on your camera. Learn Ealing has an E-Safety Policy and Procedure which can be requested at anytime for further information.

How you will learn on the course
- Whole group teaching through demonstrations - Individual practice - 1:1 help and guidance

Assessment method
This is a non-accredited course. A certificate of attendance is available at the end of term if you have attended 100% of the course. Assessment will be largely based on tutor observation, emailed pictures of completed tasks and self-reflection. Your Individual Learning Plan will also assist with monitoring your progress.

How much additional time do you need?
There will be no formal homework, but you may choose to practise what you have learnt in class at home. Your tutor will give you tips on how to safely practise using your sewing machine outside the classroom environment.

Resources, materials & additional costs?
Are there any additional costs? You will need to purchase materials needed for this workshop if you do not already have at home. Resources and materials - A sewing machine - Iron and board - 2 metres of non-stretch fabric or 1 metre each if you would like tone look. Fabric suggestion- light to medium weight. E.g. Cotton, Polycotton, Linen, chambray, soft drill or Printed cotton. Another option is to use an old flat sheet or duvet cover. - 2 Metre medium weight iron on interfacing - 1 sewing thread to match (preferably Coats Moon) - 1 bobbin or bobbin and case depending on your machine bobbin loading system - Small scissors or snips - Fabric Scissors - Chalk or erasable pen - Pencil - Paper – pattern paper, wrapping paper or packaging paper - Unpicker/ seam ripper - Ruler or pattern master - Dressmakers pins - Measuring tape - Note pad and pen
