Description

This unique 4-week online course is designed for people who want to learn about basic elements of computerised accounting or transfer their basic manual bookkeeping skills onto a computerised system. Lessons are delivered through a series of short step-by-step videos to provide you with all the knowledge required to become competent and confident in using SAGE 50 Accounts.

For this course, the entry requirement is Functional Skills English Entry 3 up to Level 2. To determine suitability, you are required to complete a pre-assessment.  

Aims of the Course
This course will help learners to demonstrate competence in the practical use of computerised accounts software to produce accurate, professional, and well-presented accounts employing an appropriate range of accounting activities. You will learn the basic operations of the popular computerised accounts package Sage 50 Accounts. Learners will be able to carry out routine accounting tasks. These will include: - being able to create accounts - process accounting information in respect of the sales and purchase ledger - understanding how to use batch control sheets - being able to produce accounting reports such as trial balance, customer activity reports and supplier details reports.

What you will learn
By the end of this course you should be able to - Add new accounts to purchase ledger and sales ledger and amend the existing accounts - Create accounts in the nominal ledger from given information. - Process information in respect of sales ledger, i.e., invoices, credit notes and receipts. - Process information in respect of the purchase ledger, i.e., invoices, credit notes and payments. - Enter initial capital. - Process transactions involving differing tax rates. - Process information in respect of cash and cheque payments and receipts. - Calculate and reconcile batch totals as required. - Produce a trial balance, profit and loss account and balance sheet. - Produce supplier and customer activity reports. - Produce supplier and customer details reports. - Produce nominal ledger account reports. - Correct errors.

Suitability and entry requirements
This course is for fluent speakers of English (Level 1 Reading ability) who have a basic understanding of bookkeeping, basic numeracy skills (able to add, subtract, multiply, divide) and intermediate IT skills. Candidates should also be able to understand spoken and written instructions.

How you will learn in this course
This unique 4-week online course, though not tutor led, will be on set days and times to allow for a more structured approach to online learning. Lessons are delivered through a series of short step-by-step videos to provide you with all the knowledge required to become competent and confident in using SAGE 50 Accounts. However, effort will be required on your part to ensure you achieve your learning outcomes. Platform for the course: This course will be delivered through the Teachable Online platform. You can join by clicking on the link within the joining instructions. Learn Ealing has an E-Safety Policy and Procedure which can be requested at any time for further information.

Accreditation, qualifications and assessment methods
This is a non-accredited course but is taught to an accredited syllabus. You will be given homework and a mini quiz at the end of most modules; these will help to solidify your knowledge of the software. There will be a final test to complete your journey.

My name is Barrington Hall, the director, of Aqret Accounting and Consultancy Services Ltd. I am a Practising Accountant and Lecturer in Computerised Accounting. I started presenting this Sage 50 Accounts course in 2009 and have delivered across three London Boroughs in the UK (Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow). I have been a speaker and presenter at the City Business Library and conducted training on the software in various institutions and organisations across the country. I have taught employees, entrepreneurs and students sitting their exams with accredited bodies such as City & Guilds for example. With my expertise and teaching experience, I am confident that you will not only achieve all the objectives of this course but will have a lot of fun doing so.
